At Tilo, we don’t believe we are operating in a broken system. In fact, the system is operating exactly as it was intended - to systematically oppress. Therefore, we need to create a new system. A system that values every individual as a human being. As Bryan Stevenson said, “... we cannot be fully evolved human beings until we care about human rights and basic dignity”. Our goal is to provide comprehensive medical, mental health, and educational services from pre-birth through adulthood at little to no cost to the individual to end the cycle of alienation. The cycle of alienation has intergenerationally perpetuated and maintained trauma, racism, homelessness, poverty, as well as many other oppressive structures. We hope to liberate through knowledge and education and create a new “normal”. A “normal” where everyone is respected and valued.

At Tilo, we do not believe behavior is a choice. At least not how the Western World defines it. Additionally, we don’t believe people that suffer from addiction, ADHD, mental health, etc are diseased and their best hope is to minimize the symptoms, but they must learn to live with it. We believe, people’s actions and behaviors are manifestations of a process of disruption in their neurological development as a result of toxic stress. The goal isn’t to eliminate all stress from a person's life, however, we are focused on shifting toxic stress to tolerable by providing adults and communities with the knowledge and resources to act as healthy buffers in a child’s life.
